Following a successful 2021 season in our debut season in Division One for the Senior Sharks Men, we move our attention to continuing to build the Senior Sharks Men’s Program into the Big V 2022 season.
To kick off, we are pleased to announce the signing of Head Coach Matt Brasser to the Senior Men’s team.
Everyone knows Matt as our Director of Coaching at the club, but Brasser’s journey started much earlier through the SPBA Domestic Program at the age of 6, quickly immersing himself in the Association. Working his way through the Junior and Senior Sharks Program, eventually being offered a scholarship to the University of Northern Oklahoma.
Taking out the Senior Men’s Program Most Valuable Player in 2021, Brasser was a driving force on the court last season and will continue to be going into the 2022 season.
The SPBA General Manager, Ben White who was also the interim Head Coach for 2021 showed nothing but high praise for Brasser saying “Having Matt to lead our program over the next 12 months is extremely exciting. Last year Brasser, among other senior players, took a strong leadership role within the team, driving a player lead culture which we saw the results of in the second half of the season.”
“This was put on display in our last two games of the season where we beat both Camberwell and Bulleen in a tough double header weekend with the majority of our team still young enough to play Youth League and some as young as 15. The leadership of the playing group and Brasser was pivotal in reaching that as a team” White added.
With the 2022 season growing ever closer the Senior Men’s Program looks to only be growing with retaining strong local talent and signings to be announced in the near future.
The 2022 Big V season is set to kick off from the 19th March 2022 and we cannot wait to welcome everyone back to the Shark Tank!
